Too busy to make this right away? Save it for later! Pin this post to your favorite board on Pinterest so it’s there when you need it!

You can bet that any burger with mushrooms is going to be juicy! Add your favorite toppings like tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and dill pickles for a perfect summer meal.

Even turkey burgers without toppings are packed with flavor! Add a side of french fries or sweet potato fries for restaurant-style burgers at home.

These homemade burgers are easy to make using a few simple ingredients. I like to make extra to freeze for later.

They are tasty and filling when you’re looking for a quick meal.

Turkey Mushroom Burger Ingredients:

  • Ground turkey
  • Eggs – bind the ingredients together
  • Gluten-free panko bread crumbs – I like using these for the light and airy texture they add to the burger
  • Dehydrated onion flakes – or chopped onions can be used
  • Garlic powder – you can also use chopped garlic
  • Black pepper – adds a bit of zing
  • Salt – enhances the other ingredients
  • Parsley – I use dried parsley but you can use fresh if you have it on hand
  • Basil – dried or fresh work well
  • Curry powder – compliments the mushrooms and adds flavor to the hamburger

Directions:

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, panko bread crumbs, and eggs
  3. Add all the spices and mix until well.
  4. Using a large scoop or spoon, take out the meat mixture and form it into patties (by hand or using a hamburger press). Approximately 4-5 oz (130 grams) per patty.
  5. Layer patties between wax paper, parchment paper, or foil and refrigerate until ready to use.
  6. Barbeque over medium-high heat for 7-9 minutes flipping halfway. They are done when the internal temperature is 160 degrees F.

The best burgers are the ones with a ton of toppings! Here are a few suggestions…

Turkey burger topping ideas for gluten-free, dairy-free:

  • Vegan cheese
  • Sliced dill pickles
  • Bacon
  • Onions
  • Spinach or lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Relish
  • Mayonaise
  • This easy-to-make Reuben sauce

What can you use instead of breadcrumbs in turkey burgers?

  • Gluten-free: Gluten-free panko breadcrumbs are my favorite binding agent, but you can also use gluten-free oatmeal, gluten-free breadcrumbs, or leftover cooked rice.
  • Not gluten-free: Regular breadcrumbs, panko breadcrumbs, or oatmeal may be used as a binding agent.

Helpful hints:

  • Fresh minced onion can be used for dehydrated onion.
  • Add additional garlic powder, salt, parsley, basil, black pepper, and curry powder to taste.
  • Heat the gluten-free buns before assembling your burgers to make them softer.
  • Fresh parsley and basil can be substituted for dried.

  • Turn this easy recipe into sliders by making smaller burgers.
  • Cooking time will vary depending on the size of your burger patties. Always use a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the burger patty to check the internal temperature is 160 degrees F.
  • Store any leftover burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Make extra patties and freeze them in a single layer on parchment paper or foil on a cookie sheet. Transfer to a freezer bag when frozen. When it’s time to cook, grill them over medium-high heat until the internal temperature is 160 degrees F.
