Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Small prep bowls for measuring spices
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Kitchen scale for weighing burger meat.
  • Burger press

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 lb bacon, chopped
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs gluten-free
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce gluten-free
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Gather all the ingredients.
  • Thaw the meat if previously frozen.
  • Chop the bacon into small pieces.
  • Add the bacon to a large bowl with the ground meat and mix.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and mix until well combined.
  • Weigh out 4-5 oz (130 grams) balls using a kitchen scale.
  • Form balls into patties by hand or use a hamburger press
  • Cook immediately or place in a single layer on a foil-lined cookie sheet and freeze them.
  • To barbeque, cook over medium-high heat for 7-9 minutes flipping halfway. Cook until the internal temperature is 160 degrees F.
  • Serve on gluten-free buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.

Notes

  • To keep burgers tender and juicy – do not overmix the meat when making patties. A gentle mix is all that is needed.
  • When grilling, do not move the burgers around – cook on one side for 3-4 minutes then flip and cook on the other side.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Raw hamburger patties can be frozen in a single layer on parchment paper or foil on a cookie sheet.
  • When cooking frozen patties, allow more cooking time per side. Cook until the internal temperature is 160 degrees F.
